چکیده

In order to improve nano-aluminized solid propellant properties and performance, different materials are being investigated for coating nano-aluminum particles. Two of the powders which considered V-ALEX, a fluoropolymer (Viton) coated nano-aluminum, L-ALEX, stearic acid nano-aluminum. It is believed that thin layer should protect aluminum core from premature oxidation, as well provide an exothermic source may accelerate particle ignition, resulting in reduction agglomeration. This paper investigates effect on agglomeration phenomenon replacing 33 % micron powder with ALEX, V-ALEX L-ALEX powders, samples containing 20 HTPB, 65 AP 15 aluminum. Propellant strands were burned inside windowed pressure chamber, allowing measurements agglomerates size number using high-speed camera. The experimental data showed propellants was replaced nano-powders exhibited reduced agglomeration, terms their total volume. reason lower ignition time temperature ignite before aggregating agglomerates. ALEX nano-powder up 36 volume compared only powder, while nano-powders, higher 60 slightly better performance than L-ALEX. can be concluded by some micron-aluminum propellants, it possible significantly reduce propulsive losses due

AGGLOMERATION ASSESMENT OF NANO-SIZED ALUMINA POWDERS

Abstract: Nanoparticles exhibit a high reactivity and strong tendency towards agglomeration. In this study, aluminum oxide (alumina) nanoparticles were characterized by gas adsorption (BET), transmition electron microscopy (TEM) and photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS) techniques to assess the agglomeration of the particles. There is a good correlation between the BET and TEM measurements b...

Synthesis of rutile titania powders: Agglomeration, dissolution, and reprecipitation phenomena

Rutile titania powders were synthesized via a sol-gel/hydrothermal process using nitric acid as the catalyst. A molar acid to alkoxide ratio of 10 and a water to alkoxide molar ratio of 250 produced 100% rutile powders when precipitated below 45 °C. Higher temperatures yielded initially either anatase or mixtures of anatase and rutile. Spherulitic growth produced cauliflower-shaped agglomerates...

Ammonium Nitrate as an Oxidizer in Solid Composite Propellants

Despite the fact that ammonium nitrate (AN) has the highest hydrogen content and fairly high oxygen balance (compared to other oxidizers), its extremely low formation enthalpy and relatively low density makes it one of the worst power oxidizers in solid composite propellants (SCP). Nevertheless, AN has certain advantages ¡ the combustion of the compositions containing AN is virtually safe, its ...

SYNTHESIS OF AL2O3-NI COMPOSITE POWDERS BY CO-PRECIPITATION METHOD

The synthesis of micro-sized, uniformly distributed Al2O3-15Vol% Ni powders were studied through three step co-precipitation of hydroxides mixtures from proper solution, calcination at air atmosphere and final step of calcined powders in a carbon bed. Al and Ni hydroxide and amorphous phase were first obtained from their salt’s solutions through chemical co-precipitation method by adjusti...
